Simple Design Tips for Your MySpace page

It is easy to create your own MySpace customized layouts but designing seems to be a whole new thing to consider. Apparently, what works in real life doesn’t necessarily mean it can also be applied in virtual world; what’s more, it is easy to spot a beginners’ work from that of a seasoned web designer just by the work’s settings and placement.

It is only fair to say that website designing not only involves skills and talent; what’s equally important is the experience that comes with every design. A good, well-thought layout will exude beauty and functionality—two things that should be balanced well when creating a design. Gone are the days when attention-grabbing stuff works; nowadays most people go for easy loading, readable pages they can explore. Avoid blinking, glittering, scrolling, running and whatever actions your texts make; texts are for reading so they should be read by your visitors, not chased. Moreover, these uncalled-for-actions only make your page look like second rate job. On the other hand, if you are using this MySpace page to showcase your work then create a separate file or link that will hold your portfolio for those who are interested to see what you’ve got.

As much as possible, use the exact size of the whole monitor screen, neither too narrow nor too wide, if possible. Scrolling sideways is a little bit annoying and even all the way down–unless there’s something good down there. Maintaining font sizes that are decent enough to be read and spaced apart adequately makes reading activities easier. It also pays to check from time to time how your page loads or behaves so you can make the necessary adjustments when needed.

Pimp Your MySpace Page

Custom designed pages in MySpace are so circa 2006.  Everybody on MySpace has actually figured out how to do this.  But this is not the end of your MySpace customization.  There are actually some other cool tips that you can add to your MySpace page to make it look funkier, funnier and cooler.  Let us take a look at what some of these are.

You can go a step further and pimp you MySpace page by installing customized cursor.  There are hundreds of different cursors out there so having the default “arrow” pointing at your tabs is yesterday.  There are teeny hands, cartoon characters or cute arrows with messages that trail after them.  Some people find this corny but it is cute though.  It also adds more jazz to your page and gives more style.

Music is actually one of those standard MySpace apps that most people have too.  But you can actually upload and change music in your playlist to mirror top tunes from sites like Billboard or MTV.  This is way cooler than having old songs posted on your site.  Plus this shows that you are always on top of what’s hot in the music scene.

Another thing that frequently pops up on the MySpace mailbox are those surveys which friends post for you to answer.  Well, you can get back at them by posting some of your own.  You can do this by searching for websites which allow you to download and post ready made surveys.  You can start the chain rolling instead of being in the receiving end for a change.

Other cool MySpace tweaks that you can do is glitter art.  This app is fun.  It allows you to change your normal font into glittering letters which are more attractive than the normal ones.  You can also download games and play these with your friends.  Popular games on MySpace include Pet Society and Mouse Hunter.  These games can be played with friends online too.

There are a lot of other ways which you can do to pimp that MySpace page.  Don’t worry if you don’t get it right the first time.  Just click on the restore to default button and everything will be cleared once again.  Most of these apps are copy and paste applications so whatever mistakes you make, will be minimal.  So what are you waiting for?  Live a little and pimp that MySpace page!!!
