MySpace for Writers

While MySpace is widely promoted for musicians, artists and designers, little do we know that MySpace has been a great promotional tool for writers too and it’s fast becoming a popular means of connecting to your favorite novelists and talented authors worldwide.

It’s a known fact that writing in itself is an art. It’s a talent best shared with other people. A good writing encourages imagination. It’s when our mind run wild and free without falling off the boundaries of life. A powerful story can influence the way we think and see ourselves and of course, who could forget the emotions we feel after reading a paperback? It’s priceless.

Granted, most writers prefer writing with a more stable and proper platform such as Wordpress and Typepad, even Blogger. It gives them the proper feel. But if you are planning to launch a book or promote your latest release, would you have the time to boost your page ranks, apply SEO tactics and whatnot to make your blog searchable? I guess not. What you need is a readily available audience with minimal effort from your part. That’s when MySpace becomes handy.

MySpace has a community consisting of thousands upon thousands of people. Everyday, they login, check their accounts and surf through the community. They read other members’ profile and even search for them to heart’s content. On the other hand, writers’ blogs are the most visited by member–and they get referrals too, by the way!

Lastly, a writer with a MySpace account benefits tremendously just by knowing their audience more. He or she has an access to their fans’ pages where they can gather ideas and feel their moods. In other words, interaction between the writer and his fans has become easier.

Product Marketing Using MySpace

Lately, I have been seeing bands and musicians selling their merchandise through their MySpace accounts. While MySpace is not normally used as such, incredibly, these people are indeed landing sales just by displaying their stuff right there. If you take a closer look at it, you’ll notice that it is indeed possible to market your product in MySpace. Afterall, all the essential ingredients are there namely: fans or loyal buyers, other people or potential buyers and interaction on a personal level.

Aside from it being free, your product has a chance to be viewed over a hundred times during the day. This is something that is quite impossible to achieve if you are going to put up a business outside of the internet but a great boost in sales if you happen to have an existing business already! Like stated over and over again, the only thing that MySpace will require of you is your time to get the job done. Here are some ways on how to sell your products in MySpace. Please be aware though that there are certain terms and conditions that prohibit advertising in individual pages of MySpace:

·    MyAds in MySpace is what Adsense is to Google. It’s MySpace’s resident “ad machine” which is offered for a minimal fee to members. It also has the flexibility of Adsense, making sure that your ads will come out to targeted users only. A great way of reaching out to unknown people without having to spam their accounts.
·    Making it relevant to your account. You can still advertise using your own page and get away with it. As you might have guessed, MySpace administrators are the ones who will decide if your page is doing an advertisement or not. Keeping it clean of blatant advertising will keep you under their radar.
